Ten short challenges remix NES gameplay with oilfield ideas. This is a varied favorites lineup, not an objective top-ten ranking. The artwork, characters and code are original.
| Inspiration | Oilfield challenge |
|---|---|
| Super Mario Bros. 3 | Platform through the courthouse and assemble a deed chain. |
| Donkey Kong | Climb rig decks and dodge rolling drums. |
| Excitebike | Race the drill through pay while managing heat. |
| Mega Man 2 | Switch water/sand tools to defeat pump robots. |
| Castlevania | Swing a chain wrench through goo on the way to separation. |
| Contra | Run, jump and fire through a fictional cartel theft yard; recover rig parts. |
| The Legend of Zelda | Explore a top-down tract, find the key and survey marker, sign the boundary. |
| Metroid | Find magnetic boots, backtrack and unlock the core log. |
| DuckTales | Pogo the drill off spring rocks to collect core samples. |
| Tetris | Rotate and stack falling casing bars to fill three rows. |
The Pumpjack Cartel is fictional slapstick: invented equipment thieves, cartoon projectiles and no graphic injury. It does not depict a real cartel or describe the law firm's work. Hold F/E to fire in action stages, use up/down or 1/2 to select tools, and Escape to exit.
Deed chains and a lease stamp open the courthouse gate. A permit, casing and a blowout-preventer (BOP) check open the rig gate. The underground run rewards staying in the selected formation. Completion uses water, proppant (sand) and timed stages; first production separates oil, gas and water.
Wolfcamp, Spraberry and Bone Spring are real Permian oil plays. Wolfcamp A/B and Lower Spraberry here use a Midland Basin setting; 3rd Bone Spring uses a Delaware Basin setting. Everything else is a cartoon game: characters, scenery, physics, probabilities and skill scores. These pickups and actions condense real title review, permitting and engineered operations; they are not operating procedures or legal work.
